Quickstart
Ten minutes, no dev skills needed. Get Claude looking up your company Slack, meeting notes, and docs on its own.
Once you've connected it, just tell Claude "tell me what we decided in last week's meeting" or "summarize what came up on Slack recently." The AI looks up your company's Slack, meeting notes, and docs directly and answers — no copy-pasting required.
💡 Easier path — you can have Claude do steps 1–4 below for you. Let AI install it
What you'll need
- A Comitia account — sign up with the email you were invited to your workspace with
- The Claude desktop app (the "Code" tab on the left) or Claude Code. Any terminal-based AI, like Cursor or Codex, works too
- A computer (Mac or Windows)
⚠️ Know this first — anything you bring into Comitia (Slack, meeting notes, docs) is visible to everyone in the same workspace, including your connected AI. There's no per-item access control yet, so don't add anything that needs to stay private — payroll, HR, personal data. Don't invite the bot into Slack channels like that either.
1. Install Node.js
This is required to run comitia. Go to nodejs.org, click the button labeled LTS, and run the installer, clicking "Continue" through the prompts.
Skip this if you already have it. If you're not sure, it's safe to install anyway.
2. Open a terminal
- Mac — press
⌘+Space, type "Terminal", and press Enter - Windows — press the Start button, type "PowerShell", and press Enter
A plain text window opens. Copy the commands below and paste them in, then press Enter.
3. Install comitia
npm i -g comitia
✅ After a few seconds you should see something like
added 1 package— that means it worked.
If you get EACCES or permission denied on Mac, prefix the command with sudo and try again. It'll ask for your Mac password — it's normal for nothing to show up as you type.
sudo npm i -g comitia
4. Connect to Comitia
comitia init -g
Your browser opens automatically. Log in to Comitia if you aren't already, pick a workspace and permission level on the screen that appears, and click "Allow."
| Permission | Use this when |
|---|---|
| Read only | You're just looking things up and asking questions |
| Sources & organize | You want to hand meeting notes and wiki organizing to the AI too |
✅ Once the terminal shows "Connected", you're done. You can close the browser tab.
This command also tells your AI that comitia exists. You only need to run it once per computer.
5. Try it out
Open a new conversation in Claude and just ask, in plain language.
- "Summarize what's come up on Slack recently"
- "Pull out the action items from last week's weekly"
- "Upload this meeting note to Comitia and organize it" — for sources & organize permission
In Claude Code, you can also call these directly: /comitia:read (look up and answer), /comitia:ingest (upload and organize), /comitia:slack (post to Slack), /comitia:sync (pull in now).
